Material Handling Equipment & Integrated Systems
A leading chemical manufacturer contacted Material Transfer, looking for a solution to unload four different types of pharmaceutical powders from both bulk bags and drums, into one common outlet. The materials were as small as 20 microns in diameter and often caked, smeared, bridged, and packed during routine material handling. This system needed to be easy to clean, constructed from a polished 304 stainless steel, and designed for Class I & II, Division II, Group C, D, and G service.
Material Transfer & Storage of Allegan, Michigan specializes in custom designed material handling equipment. Their product line includes container, drum, and bulk bag discharging systems as well as bulk bag fillers and conditioners. Material Transfer has been providing custom material handling solutions for customers in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries since 1989.
Factory representatives met on site with the customer, reviewed the unique application requirements, and discussed various concepts. Material Transfer made equipment recommendations, and then supplied detailed proposals and sales drawings. After reviewing numerous bids, the customer selected Material Transfer based on exclusive design features, and a long history of positive past experiences with their equipment.
A 180° rotation, hydraulic Lift & Seal™ drum discharging system was engineered to receive a drum of material from a stainless steel roller conveyor and automatically dock the rim of the drum to the inlet of a dust-tight, stainless steel pour cone. The sealed drum and cone are lifted, rotated a full 180°, and then docked to a custom-built stainless steel “Y” transition. A
